At the direction of the General Assembly, Connecticut is proposing adoption of updated emissions standards for cars and new emissions standards for trucks.
Send your message for the Regulatory Review Committee to approve DEEP's proposed regulations now.
These standards will make new cars and trucks up to 90% cleaner and will require vehicle manufacturers to deliver more zero-emission vehicles and other advanced technology vehicles to Connecticut drivers while also increasing consumer protections.
Beginning in 2027, the proposed standards would apply to new vehicles only, not to used cars, and do not prohibit owning diesel or gas-powered vehicles.
These standards will improve public health, help Connecticut achieve our greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitments, and strengthen the state’s economy.
Connecticut faces some of the worst air quality in the nation, so it is imperative that we protect public health by reducing emissions. Our state must join the 17 other states that have prioritized clean vehicles by adopting advanced emissions standards. More robust regulations will support Connecticut’s air quality and emissions reduction goals.
Republican lawmakers are spreading misinformation about these regs, so it is important to make your voice heard! Read more here.
