Congratulations to all for a successful Special Session, your voices have been heard! Due to thousands of citizen's efforts the following legislation passed:
HB 6004 An Act Concerning Police Accountability: This bill will move us towards greater police accountability in our state, which is essential if we are to achieve a more just and equitable society. Police are supposed to serve everyone equally. Their responsibilities demand accountability. Black and brown residents are far too often treated differently by the police and by the overall judicial process. The alarming number deaths by police and the lack of accountability for these deaths is unacceptable This bill represents a start in tackling some of these issues. The House passed the bill 86-54, the Senate 22-14.
