Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. Stamford is fighting back!

They're taking everything they can get their hands on—our health care, our data, our jobs, our services—and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.

On Saturday, April 5th, we're taking to the streets to fight back with a clear message: Hands off! RSVP & details are here.

Where: 707 Washington Blvd When: 11 am April 5, 2025

The good news? No autocracy has ever survived once at least 3.5% of the population mobilizes. Our resistance matters, and Connecticut is proving we can fight back and win.

This mass mobilization day is our message to the world that we do not consent to the destruction of our government and our economy for the benefit of Trump and his billionaire allies. Alongside Americans across the country, we are marching, rallying, and protesting to demand a stop the chaos and build an opposition movement against the looting of our country.

A core principle behind all Hands Off! events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Check out handsoff2025.com for more information.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to Stop the Trump/Musk Attack on America on April 5th

Health insurance companies want to raise your rates - again!

Two of these companies, Anthem and UnitedHealthcare (UHC), were among those who tanked a Public Option in Connecticut in 2021.T hey’ve been doing pretty well since then. In 2024, UnitedHealthcare reported profits of $14,405,000,000, and Anthem reported profits of $5,980,000,000.

You read those right - that’s $20 billion, from two companies alone, that could have paid for health care – and instead went into the pockets of already-rich shareholders

Now, health insurers are asking the Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) for permission to raise rates for plans in the individual and small group markets, both on and off the state-sponsored exchange, Access Health CT. This year, insurers are requesting increases that range from 5.9% to 26.1%.

Read the Health Insurance Greed report here.

The CID held a hybrid public informational meeting on Aug. 18th You can view CCAG's Liz Dupont-Diehl's testimony here.

You can watch the entire hearing Here.

Stay tuned for details and write a letter to the CID expressing why these rate hikes need to be denied!

Environmental groups across the state are urging Governor Ned Lamont and DEEP Chairman Katie Dykes to keep CT’s climate promise, stand up for a clean energy future, and reject the permit for the Brookfield compressor station expansion & Project Maple (a fracked gas pipeline expansion).

It is urgent that we stop the fracked gas compressor station expansion proposed for Brookfield, CT. The corporations that own the facility, TC Energy & Berkshire Hathaway, want to more than double the size of the facility. One of the most concerning things about this proposal is that the compressor station is located just 1900 feet away from the town's middle school. The final permit for the expansion in Brookfield is being reviewed right now by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

There are also many concerns around Enbridge's Project Maple, a proposed fracked gas pipeline extension from New Jersey to Rhode Island, running across Connecticut. Enbridge says new capacity is needed to keep up with demand. One major concern is leaking gas, which can lead to a range of health issues, from respiratory diseases to cancer.

This pipeline threatens the health of our environment, communities, and the financial wellbeing of all Connecticut residents. Fracked gas infrastructure increases energy costs, strains household budgets, and further exacerbates our slow progress toward meeting Connecticut’s climate and carbon goals. Visit ccag.net to take action. Clean energy must be a priority!

You can take action on both projects here.

We need to put gas in the past, and invest in clean energy instead of more gas pipelines. Our energy bills, our air, and our climate are all at risk when we increase our dependence on fossil fuels. Connecticut residents deserve affordable energy bills and a healthier climate.

Stop the Expansion of Fracked Gas Pipelines in Connecticut.

This is urgent: Trump is dragging the U.S. into Netanyahu’s war against Iran, a move that could ignite catastrophic conflict and risk countless American and Iranian lives. Send your message to Congress NOW

Senator Kaine has introduced a War Powers Resolution for Iran in the Senate, and Rep. Ro Khanna  a bipartisan War Powers Resolution in the House, to stop Trump in his tracks.

These critical measures would block any unauthorized military action by using Congress’s full constitutional authority, we need huge, immediate pressure on Congress.

Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution makes it crystal clear that Congress has the SOLE authority to declare war. You can read the text of Kaine's bill here.

The stakes couldn't be higher. Over two decades of American military entanglements have cost us more than $8 trillion, hundreds of thousands of lives, and immeasurable suffering across the Middle East. We cannot let it happen again.

Please send your message  immediately: tell Congress to urgently back Sen. Kaine and Rep. Khanna's War Powers Resolutions to block Trump's reckless path toward another Middle East war.

When we organize, we win! NO War with Iran!

Support the No War With Iran Resolutions Now!
